Our students build and sustain reading stamina everyday in our classrooms. Gail Boushey, co-creator of the Daily 5, has created a video series for families and children to build their reading stamina while at home. Gail teaches your child how to read by themselves. You will find Gail's first video below to get you started. The blue button below the video will take you to the website where Gail will teach you and your child how to do this important activity at home. Happy Reading!
**Remember that our students were building their reading stamina during this past school year in their classrooms but they have had time away. It is IMPORTANT that they slowly build their independent reading time (stamina) back up each day that they read. Start at a lower minute video and build up each reading day. If your child want to graph their minutes, just like we did in school, there are charts available for you to print below. Please note that some days your reader will read for the same amount of time as the day before and other days will increase. Celebrate successes! Let your teachers know how you are doing. Reach out to any of your classroom teachers or reading specialists for assistance.
